About the Role

We are seeking a CEO who is an experienced fundraiser with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. This leader should be a visionary, capable of guiding the organization toward new opportunities while upholding strong governance practices. They must possess a deep understanding of intercultural dynamics and excel at building relationships and capacity, both locally and globally. As an entrepreneurial builder, they will drive growth and innovation within the organization. Finally, as a person of faith, they will align with the motivation that guides our mission and inspire others to join us in our work.

As the CEO, you are the senior leader in Canada and are responsible for ensuring our strategic plan is executed and funded. A crucial part of your role is to grow our capacity: through fundraising, business development, strategy, resourcing, and knowledge. You serve as the primary link between our Canadian and Ugandan operations, overseeing compliance and governance and are the main spokesperson for the organization.

Compensation and Benefits:

- The hiring range for this role is $110,000-125,000. Salary is increased annually, separately from raises.

Requirements

The role involves both local and international travel. This includes trips to Uganda once or twice a year (depending on need), as well as travel within Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island for donor visits and related activities. On a day-to-day basis, the position is remote, with a budget allocated for office space or hot desk usage.


  • Key Responsibilities:


    1. Strategic Leadership & Coaching


    - Provide oversight, support and guidance to the Global SLT

    - Monitor progress on the strategic plan, provide coaching, and execute key decisions

    - Act as a decision-making backstop for both teams

    - Handle crisis management and public relations when needed

    - Liaise with other peers in the sector for partnership, resource and network support


    2. Fundraising & Marketing


    - Guide the overall fundraising and marketing strategies

    - Manage a portfolio of 30 major donors responsible for raising $650,000 annually

    - Maintain relationships with an additional 60 mid-to-major donors contributing $200,000

    - Oversee donor reporting and lead grant application efforts, aiming for 3 applications per month

    - Support and often execute on donor reporting to mid and major donors

    - Support overarching fundraising strategies, helping the organization grow annually in revenue


    3. Governance & Finance


    - Ensure compliance with Canadian regulations, maintaining CRA status and legal compliance. Provide appropriate Board-CEO relationship and support to both Boards

    - Strengthen governance and compliance capacity in Uganda, supporting their Board and membership development

    - Ensure both the Canadian and Ugandan Boards are well-supported in their governance duties

    - Oversee budgeting, cash flow management, and financial planning to ensure the Canadian organization’s sustainability

    - Support Uganda’s financial management and programming execution, ensuring funds are tracked, managed, and reported effectively

    - Ensure timely production of monthly financial statements and successful completion of external audits


    4. Programming & Operations


    - Support, liaise and coach the Ugandan Program Team to ensure ongoing program development and excellence in reporting, objectives and reputation. Our goal is to continue to be recognized as a leader in WASH in the sector

    - Review and request program reports regularly

    - Manage work plans and review finances in collaboration with the team


    5. Day-to-Day Operations


    - Provide relational support to the team in Canada and Uganda, fostering a strong partnership

    - Oversee the logistics, staff support, and daily operations of leading a small organization
